Is Frozen better than Fresh vegetables ?

ORGANIC, FRESH OR FROZEN
There is always question around organic, Fresh and frozen products.
Which one is the best in nutrition?
Which one is the best in taste?
Which one is the convenient?
Which one is the practical option going with the current busy lifestyle?
Which one is cheapest?
Etc.
Today we are going to talk about “Broccoli” – Organic, Fresh or Frozen.
Broccoli is one of the best green vegetables which support and improve health and wellbeing with loads of nutrition values and good taste. There is a norm saying that, if you want to build your body you should eat Chicken breast and broccoli for your all six meals. Also, we consider this as an athlete food by all means.
Out discussion is around what are the options we have when we consume broccoli and recommendation on which product to consume with our busy lifestyle.
Best of the Best
As we all know the best Broccoli is coming from your own organic garden or backyard where you straight away pick it up from garden to your kitchen. Also, you will be gaining the best nutrition values since it is coming from your own garden, there are no chemicals on it, there is no transportation damage, and there is no need to pick before it’s completely matured. Also, it gives you more nutritional content as well as a taste.
Anyway, when you pick something from your garden you feel happy and as a result of that, you feel 100 times delicious, juicier than other foods coming from supermarkets and local markets.
Whereas this option is not valid for most of us with 9 to 5 working hours for 5 days which we call rat race.
Please refer Appendix 1.1 to see much more details about nutrition content coming from Organic Broccoli.
Whereas with busy lifestyle majority won’t be able to grow their vegetables in their own backyards.
Let’s look at some practical broccoli products where we can buy from local markets and supermarkets.
Here we are going to compare 3 products of broccoli i.e. Certified Organic Broccoli from local markets or supermarkets, Australian broccoli fresh, Australia frozen broccoli forest ( Coles ).
1. Organic Broccoli (LOCAL Farmer or Certified organic farmer).
As we all know organic broccoli from a local farmer or certified organic farmer, has the best nutrition value and taste after your own garden grown broccoli.
Transportation is the main reason why this is second to Garden grown broccoli which effects its nutrition values by picking up before it’s completely matured and there might be transportation damage to the product.
Whereas Organic Broccoli coming from local or certified organic farmer can be considered as one of the best product available in the today market since there is no pesticide which slows down digestion and reduces the bioavailability of the product by allowing the liver to cleanse those chemicals and toxins from food intake.
Organic broccoli coming from local or certified organic farmer will have the higher bioavailability and much more nutritional value in the market today.
Organic broccoli coming from local or certified organic farmer can be considered as a best healthiest option on the market at the same time it is the most expensive product in the market to consume in the day to day life.
It is normally 2 times expensive ($ 12.00 per 1 KG) than normal broccoli.
Another challenge customer facing is it, Organic broccoli coming from local or certified organic farmer is rare to find in supermarkets or local markets.
Please refer Appendix 1.1 to see much more details about nutrition content coming from Organic Broccoli.
2. Australian Broccoli, Fresh (LOCAL grocer or SUPERMARKET)
Yes, it looks identical with organic broccoli with its appearance in the local markets and supermarkets. Its look cleaner, its look fresh and feels like ready to eat. Whereas the hidden truth is there are chemicals and toxins in this product where you can’t see when you buy them from the shelf.
It is not recommended to eat these products raw since it has some pesticides when we compare with organic products.
Nevertheless Australian broccoli Fresh is one of the good options we have in Australia and it is much cheaper than Organic Broccoli ($6.50 per 1 KG). Whereas as we already mentioned, it is coming with chemicals and toxins mainly due to its way of growing in farms which spray chemicals to protect from other insects etc.
This also picks from the ground before it’s getting matured due to its transportation need and as a subsequent result it’s losing some nutrient values.
Please refer Appendix 1.2 to see much more details about nutrition content coming from Organic Broccoli.
3. Frozen Broccoli (AUSTRALIAN Frozen Broccoli Florets (COLES)
Australian frozen broccoli florets (Coles) is one of my favorite products which gives us less time to prepare which lead us to have more fun time than cleaning, cutting, and cooking.
Australian Frozen Broccoli Florets one of the best-frozen products in the market and it gives you best value for the price. Even though there are chemicals involved in the growing process it's allowed to mature the product before it picks it up from the ground which produces more nutrition values than fresh products.
Another benefit you are getting out of frozen products generally is no matter what season it is you will be able to consume the product in same quality and the same price tag which is one of the lifesavers for some people.
Please refer Appendix 1.3 to see much more details about nutrition content coming from Organic Broccoli.
4. Comparisons and recommendations
In previous sections we have already compare and contrast 3 products, based on the facts that we gathered, there is clear winner which is organic broccoli (Your own garden broccoli is one of the best options which is not practical for most people)
By considering that, I would like to further compare Australian frozen broccoli florets (Coles) and Australian broccoli Fresh in depth, which has an equal competition in this context.
By considering below nutrition table (Nutrient Comparison Table 1.1
) most of the Nutrients like Protein, Nitrogen, Organic acids, and Minerals are higher in Fresh broccoli especially Vitamins are much higher in Fresh broccoli where you receive more nutrient content than Frozen broccoli.
However there are some nutrients are higher in frozen broccoli, like Dietary fiber, copper in frozen broccoli.
For further detail please refer table - Nutrient Comparison Table 1.1

By considering cost, easiness and convenient I would think Frozen broccoli would be one of the best options we have in current busy lifestyle. The best thing you can do is you can keep frozen broccoli in your office refrigerator for easy access whenever you want some super food accordingly.
Whereas downside of this is this might be less delicious than fresh and organic broccoli.
On the other hand, fresh broccoli is the recommended option which provides you with higher nutrient content and of Couse, it will be much tastier than frozen. The only downside is time to clean, cut, cook and packaging.
Organic broccoli is one of the best options which gives you highest nutrition values at the same time not toxins or chemicals in it. It is recommended to go for Organic broccoli whenever you have the opportunity. Also, it is better to consume as much as organic products including broccoli especially when you’re competing for the physique competition or if you are suffering from some decease or if you are rich enough to buy Organic products.
Broccoli is one of the super foods and we are lucky to have access to this amazing vegetable in the current world. It really doesn’t matter Organic, Fresh or frozen, the matter is you should consume broccoli daily whenever you have an opportunity.
